Barclays LA
What's the overall sentiment about the new Barclays LA (Lehman LA + Barclays LA)?
Before the merger, Ted Iantuono, who was a big LevFin hitter and co-head of the CS LA office, left with a team of his guys to go to Barclays LA (i.e. Jon Bruce, Darrick Geant and down). When the merger happened, they all joined forces with the old Lehman LA office, which also had a focus on the LevFin/Sponsor space, though not nearly as prominent an office as UBS/CS LA during the '05-'07 boom.
Anyway, the exodus obviously wasn't a significant as w/ Moelis & Co, but how do you think this stacks up for the future of the new Barclays LA? Great place to work?
Did you get callbacks yet?

Does anyone know anything about this office? Is it a generalist program between Financial Sponsors and Gaming & Lodging? I've heard it is separate but on linkedin there are a lot of former analysts that list both groups in their Bios. Would appreciate any further insight into these groups.
Yeah, that sounds about right. It is a generalist program. I know they have financial sponsors and gaming/lodging (both are LA niches), and also TMT. They have a superday sometime next week. I also know they tend to take quite a few from Ivey Business School in Canada.

I have a phone interview with this group, but there isn't much on the internet about these guys.
Any thoughts or pointers would be much appreciated.
bump.
Anyone? The interview is tomorrow. I'd appreciate any insight.
BUMP BUMP
At one point I believe the groups were merged, but now they are separate. Both groups are pretty small.
I would definitely make sure you're well-versed on the healthcare industry, particularly when it comes to biotech and the like (in terms of how to value them, etc. - they're in Silicon Valley, so that's a huge chunk of their deal flow). Based off of my FT interview with them (compared to sector-specific ones I've had), they expect a much higher level of healthcare knowledge going in than other places might
Was in their office last week. Good share of office are senior bankers who moved over from CS LA.
Most of office is Sponsors, small RE team. Correct on the Ivey analysts, as is the case across LA (GS takes many from Ivey) - heard it started from an Ivey MD at DLJ years ago and trickled down from there.
Sponsors just took 2 SA, none from Ivey this year though.
