Barclays vs. Evercore?

Two offers, Barclays IB (general offer) or Evercore for SA. Both in NY. Which should I choose?
Any other insights as to exit opps/hours/work experience/culture?
Note: for exit opps I want to work for a HF, not a PE shop eventually.

Is Evercore general offer as well? I'd 100% go with Evercore, but that's just me.

For a HF, you need to work in M&A preferably, or an industry group that you are interested in (say Centaurus for energy). Any specific strategy that you wish to go after?

i either know someone who's in the exact same position, or you're her...

I don't accept sacrifices and I don't make them. ... If ever the pleasure of one has to be bought by the pain of the other, there better be no trade at all. A trade by which one gains and the other loses is a fraud.

Is it just me or for this recruiting season has everyone on WSO been really quick to choose an elite boutique over a bulge bracket?

I'd like to know what some of the responders are basing their advice on, especially since I know some of you do not work and most of you didn't answer any of the questions about pay, hours, culture, etc.- what a decision should be based on

Hours will be slightly better at BarCap. Pay is going to be 70 base, 10 sign on for both firms. Bonus might be more for Evercore, (usually it is) say 55k for BarCap and 60k for Evercore. The exit opps won't be much different, only depending on the group you're in. I'd say you'd get a better experience at Evercore knowing that there are less analysts and you aren't doing one specifc thing for each deal (comps, CIM, etc)

Personally, I like the idea of working at a bb during the summer to get an idea of the industry and you have a lot of kids your age to chill with, but then go to a boutique after for full time.
