Baruch Masters and Big 4
Baruch Masters was a scam.
So I enrolled into the Baruch Masters program because of the internet telling me that it was a feeder school for the Big 4's. But I'm checking out the OCR and it looks like the only Big 4 hiring full time associates in Audit is E+Y, KPMG and Deloitte only has internship positions. PwC isn't even on the OCR list...
I'm not sure about their hiring practice with undergrads, but they don't seem to want Graduate students.
Im guessing that the info sessions were pointless and don't lead to OCR
You must be failing it then because basically everyone I know got picked up into Big 4 from the Baruch master's program.
Do you know how they got it? This is my first semester at Baruch Masters but won't officially start until Spring 2014. My conclusion was based on OCR, which I'm assuming is the main way to secure a position.
You know they have 2 OCRs right? And it's still early. A lot of companies add last minute as the actual OCR approaches. So just because it is not there now does not mean it won't be there tomorrow.
As for those I know that got in...most went through OCR or just straight up applications on websites. Others had internships there during the semester and got picked up. One guy I know networked with an intern and both got hired.
So there's plenty of avenues into the 4. Don't just put all your eggs in OCR. Work for it.
Big 4 internships are usually for undergrad seniors ( graduating with 120) or juniors (graduating with 150). The only opportunity grad students usually have are the F/T Audit/tax associate position. It's still fairly early, so give it some time before you see everything on Starr
Go the networking route, see if you can alumni if you want a 100% certainty.
If not,as the poster above said, it is still early
My buddy did the MACC and got into E&Y with no previous accounting background.
Thanks for the responses guys. Calnus, what did you mean by 2 OCR? Did you mean 1 in spring and 1 in fall? Or 2 in the fall. I never heard b4s hiring twice a year
If I remember correctly, which could be wrong since I didn't use it, but there is an OCR in Fall and OCR in Spring. I think just a different mix of companies come to each one.
But there is a ton of accounting career fair stuff there with the clubs and general career fair stuff as well. So plenty of avenues in. Not to mention basically every Big 4 firm has Baruch alums that you can reach out to easily.
If you don't mind me asking, when did you receive your acceptance letter? I am still waiting to hear back
For what semester did you apply for? I applied for fall13 oin april and got the acceptance letter on june
I hope that they accept me along with my sub par GMAT score, so I can start in the spring
