BB Equity Research Interviews, CFA, Series 7 and 63
Hi guys,
For Equity Research Associate positions at BB (think MS, JPM, UBS) that require something like 1-3 years of financial services experience, how are the interviews structured? Is there just one round of interview with 2-3 people in the team and they extend you offers or can there be several rounds of interviews?
Also, how much does the holding of Series 7, 63 licenses and CFA Level 2-3 candidacy help? Are these more important than just a simple matter of whether they like you or not?
Any insights would be appreciated, thanks!

Candidacy is a bonus. Having the S7 and S63 is a huge plus. Looking at things from the rational perspective, those are a huge upside as you need them and it will give you a leg up, except for the fact that you need to get the 86 and 87. What CFA you have? If you have the L3 that's another notch in the belt, since you can get that instead of the 86.
Can't answer the first half. Sorry about that.
Anything that is needed for the job which you have already saves the company time and money and in return makes you a lot more attractive.
Great, thanks guys. Can anyone else provide any input for the former?
Interviews for experienced positions really don't vary from other experienced finance roles. You will have a few one or two on ones, a modelling/case study, one or two more interviews and finally a superdayish thing where you meet with a bunch of people.
7 and 63 will not hurt you, since you will need to get them anyway (they will not help you though). CFA candidacy will help you as long as you have passed at least the level one.
For these sorts of positions the most important things are your experience and whether or not they like you. The series exams are just a plus that show you aren't completely retarded. Similarly, CFA candidacy proves you are reasonably intelligent and diligent. Firms do like to see a completed CFA when they are looking at promoting you.
