Turtle Bay on 2nd Ave, specifically on Wednesday
My first night there a midget showed up in a superman outfit and strutted on the bar top for the entire night pouring shots to anyone who wanted 'em
Oh man...memories of my early 20's.
Turtle Bay, Joshua Tree, Calico Jacks and McFadden's are the first few that come to mind
Assuming NYC - Turtle Bay and 13th Step are generally swarming with interns from all walks of life during the summer.
This thread is probably beneficial:

Brother Jimmy's
Based on OP's username, this is probably the spot for him. Natty Light tall boys out the wazoo.
Continental is the place to go for pre-gaming $10.00 for 5 shots.
Continental by far. Best deal ever.
One night after going to phd we were on the way to St marks to eat. We decided to try continental (why? Idk)... and got rejected.
Flashdancers.
Edit: in all srsness though, Bro Js, J tree, mercury, calicos, turtle, johnny utahs. Thats just off the top of my head. I hate them all, but nonetheless I believe they apply to ur ?
Bemelmans Bar on the UES (76th and Madison).
Anyone know if the Continental is less of a shithole than Blue and Gold Tavern? It looks a bit nicer on their website and apparently doesn't have the whole hipster thing going on. The urinal being less than 6 inches away from the sink at Blue and Gold is pretty fucking disgusting.
The things I put myself through to find a cheap place to drink in NYC....
Turtle Bay. HAHA. Oh man. I swear I will never step foot in that place after last summer. They still have the midget show because he showed up one night. What a shitshow. The atmosphere reminds me of a high school dance party, but they do have some good drink specials especially if one of your buddies in your group gets to drink for free. I immediately knew it was an intern bar when I saw a kid walking around with his bank gym bag.
Fact about Turtle Bay: Apparently it's rated NYC's #1 hook-up bar. [I would beg to differ]
Jesus Christ, was I this uncool at 23?
Turtle Bay - Wednesday Bro Jimmy's - Thursday 13th Step, Brass Monkey, Joshua Tree, Dorrians (Boarding School alums), Utah's.
McFaddens is good for pregaming. Usually have decent open bars from 9-11 for cheep.
You go all the way up to Dorrians? Might as well hit up Stumble Inn while you're up there.
Marie's Crisis on Mondays, because those guys -really- know how to have a good time.
Johnny Utah's
The nice part of this thread, aside from it being on the homepage, is that NYC is automatically assumed by everyone.
The Patriot.
the yellow school buses
so what are good friday and saturday night bars?
Perhaps I just went on a bad night, but the quality at Turtle Bay seemed to be lacking.
Please don't be one of those interns that lives at B bar and Phebes. Spending your summer there is an insult to NYC
(Phebe's is great on Sundays in the fall for all you Bengals fans.)
Username Natty Light with a short and sweet "Best bars for SAs???" post...We've found intern-bro for the summer!
Make sure collar is always popped and chest hair showing...wouldn't want to come across as a bro-wannabe
hard pass on that...
I prefer my men sans chest hair...like that Calvin Klein underwear model look.
The Irish Exit... You'll leave with a long list of regrets and a large hang over.
Best bars in SF??
Second whoever mentioned Dorrian's. But let's get real, no one wants to party on UES. B Bar is solid regardless of what anyone says, but do avoid Phebe's. Also if you are in that area, I'd try out Swift as well - awesome beer selection.
If you want to do meatpacking, I'd go to Brass Monkey, the Jane, or Westway. Westway is a pretty young crowd so if you are on your game, you should be able to pull some tail there. Also if you are a SA, you will go to Le Bain a lot. People have mixed opinions on it, but going there is just a fact of life in the summer.
For some weekday day drinking, I highly recommend Houston Hall. Place is pretty chill and you and your bros can sit, which is clutch if you are going to be drinking for a while.
Avoid anywhere in Murray Hill, and whatever you do, don't go to the 13th Step. I may get shit on for that, but I don't care. Don't go.
This is some of the most pretentious summer intern bar advice imaginable.
Perhaps I live a pretentious life, but I see nothing wrong with any of my suggestions. All of those places aside from Le Bain are quite casual and not really that expensive.
I agree with 90% of this.
Go to meatpacking if you like standing in line for an hour so that you can pay out the ass for drinks and hang out with airhead floozies
As an intern just stick to grabbing $25 beers at 230 Fifth, and you'll be fine.
