best MBA for venture capital

Hi everyone,

I am currently working as an IT Project manager in a Summer Olympics project, I have like 5 years of experience in the field of technology and IT - really interested in transition to VC area ( I have 6 month internship in one VC fund under my belt).
Could you advise what school will give me more chances to break in to this industry?
I can't really think of many options outside of Stanford/Harvard and maybe Haas and MIT (not really interested in the last two - a bit tired from the technical environment and communication with former engineers)

I would really appreciate any insights about VC post-mba perspectives from the following schools:

Tuck ( I know, its a consulting school with some PE presence, but still)
Cornell Tech (1 year MBA in NY)

London Business School
INSEAD

Columbia probably is out of question as it does not provide any loans for international students.

Thanks!

if you cant get into HBS or GSB - or maybe - wharton (significantly harder to get into vc even from wharton). then i wouldnt go to b school at all. just start a company or join a startup and move up within and try to make the jump over to venture

Harvard. I just say that because Summit puts so many people in to there, and then brings them back on as VP's.

I see you mentioned programs outside of the traditional M7, but frankly those are your best bets...outside of those schools it is going to be a long shot (even from Haas, etc. -- albeit not impossible -- those schools you mentioned are great programs).

"They are all former investment bankers that were laid off in the economic collapse that Nancy Pelosi caused. They have no marketable skills, but by God they work hard."

The schools you mentioned would be good choices as well as many others. Do consider how difficult it is to get into PE and VC out of b-school. The number of people being hired into PE and VC seem slim right now and will likely continue to be into the near future.

Not getting some PE or VC experience before business school could severely hurt your chances of successful post-MBA employment in those fields. Instead of 3 years in IB then b-school, you would probably be better off doing 2 years in IB, 2 years in PE/VC/Corp dev, then business school.

Regards
