Thinkorswim runs a decent paper trading platform. Keep in mind that you are on a 20 min delay.
I've also heard from others that optionsXpress (it is advertised in the above banner as I type this) uses a good paper trading platform.
+1 on thinkorswim
Yep...thinkorwswim. But not free.
The paper trading is free. You don't have to complete the registration process by funding an account to paper trade. Once you have a user name and password you can go straight to downloading the client without funding it.
Unless things have changed.
Maybe I am wrong, it comes only with my funded TD account.
batemannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn whats up mannnnnnnnnnn Welcome back brother!
t4s whats good man..any insight here? trying to start up a fund with a bunch of finance types from diff backgrounds and want a platform to paper trade on before getting going with real money
try tradingsim.com its pretty good and can use diff dates Nasdaq 100 only
Anyone know any other good paper trading platforms?
updown.com but its really basic, no where near thinkorswim
You could try contacting thinkorswim support and request that you get live data to "test" out of the platform. It worked for me.
I currently have a ToS live account, but it would be awesome to have a live data paper account. Gonna call their Toronto office.
Updown.com, but there you can only trade equities.
although an old posting, i would like to share this paper trading platform for stocks for US market http://www.strategyard.com
think or swim is a very good platform. You need to fund an account to gain access but well worth it.
wallstreetsurvivor.com
I think you can paper trade on TOS for free, but data is delayed. Fund a live account and it's realtime. Never been a fan of paper trading. Just trade live with one-lots. IB has way better comms than TOS, but it's $10,000 as opposed to $3,500 minimum deposit. IB also offers more products, international stuff, VIX futures, etc.

What is the best free platform for paper trading options?
What is the best platform for trading real options?
Looking to get started, but need opinions on the best and most affordable system to start with.
Thanks!
I would google online brokerage costs and compare from there.
optionsxpress.com
OptionsHouse.com, They start you with a paper trading account and they only charge $1 or less an option when you start trading real money.
I like optionsxpress, but keep in mind I have a portfolio margin account with them...
for virtual trading, optionshouse has a good risk viewer/market risk feature. Its a neat setup.
THinkorswim has a really easy Excel capability where you can stream data
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the suggestions.
I trade live on optionshouse.com and use thinkorswim for research and analytics. I execute a few trades on ToS to give em a few bucks for the awesome platform, but executing everything on there would cost a fortune.
ThinkorSwim.

Any recommendations? I'm looking for a solid platform that offers real time quotes/charts and won't expire after xx weeks. Looking to trade stocks and options.
thinkorswim
This.
quotes are 20 min delayed in ToS without 3500 in account though
Its fake money...so there's never going to be 3500 in the account and you can always get real time quotes from other sources
