Internships to break into MBB - Sophmore year summer
What internships should I target during my undergrad years if I hope to break into MBB afterwards? I'm from a target btw
Between working as an intern for a consulting firm overseas with a huge name in Asia but not in the US, a F100 finance/strat role domestically, and a BB PWM, which would be be best for my sophomore year summer?
For future reference, is it better to get experience in the industry with F500 internships or are consulting internships best?
mck sophm year program. yee.

Yeah, not sure if I'll make that cut due to the so-so gpa I currently have as a sophomore. What's the best out of what I listed?
Any other insight?
there is deloitte sophm year programs. tons of interns are soph, maybe half. also, even if you are not a minority, i would still apply to that mck program. who is to call you out that you are not a minority. i dont believe they would even dare to ask and if they did just say you got a hispanic mother, are part native american or have a black grandfather and associate strongly. nobody can claim otherwise and you should be fine. also apply to banks. consulting firms love to interview former s&t interns and ibd interns at bbs. goldman, jp both have sophm year programs. there is also a possibility of twisting your profile, in the sense that you claim to be graduating early, hence profiling yourself as a current junior and apply for junior year programs. tons of people use this strategy, get to interview as a junior while a sophm, and then if they get an internship that year, they can always say "hey, ive decided to postpone my graduation" and go through recruiting again. this allows you to do twice junior year intern recruiting and twice senior year full time recruiting. very nice indeed. i have personally not done this, but know of many who have, and done so successfully. imagine this, it is not hard getting a good internship in junior year, but damn as a sophomore they barely take anyone. now imagine this, you apply as a junior, get something decent/good. the next year, when actually a junior, you will have a high profile internship which will look to be that you got it sophomore year, and thus you must be crazy good. this will put you at the forefront of getting an ever better internship junior year. you can in addition decide to recruit for full time positions. if you get some crazy good, well then you can always decide to graduate early. if not, you can always get the offers, politely decline and say you want to stay one more year at uni doing research or whatever. then you are on the radar on most top firms, have a very solid profile and can go through internship recruiting again. now, you are bound to get something really nice. you get your full time return offer, and either accept and recruit again full time. it's hard to not work out. slightly immoral if you look introspectively, who come on, who will know or doubt you wont graduate early if you say so. let me know if you have any questions.
ever heard of the enter key?
Best Non-Consulting Internship for Consulting (Originally Posted: 01/11/2008)
Let's say you haven't decided between finance and consulting. What, besides IB, would be the best internship to get that isn't actually in consulting?
corp dev or strategy for a F500, preferably F100 - somewhere where you can get exposure to the C level decisions that are the basis for banking and consulting.
What on on Wall Street would be good, other than banking?

Which internship (as a rising senior) would be better to position yourself for a full-time opportunity at the MBB firms? 1) IB at a BB 2) Consulting at a non-MBB consulting firm (since I hear summer internships for MBB are really difficult)
I'm at a top 10 target, but have pretty mediocre grades...
