Best source for an overview of the AM Industry
Hi guys,
I am looking for a good book or shorter guide that has a high-level overview of the Asset Management Industry. If anyone can recommend a great introductory source it would be much appreciated. It can be about starting your own firm. I know "Asset Management" is very vague and refers to a large universe of activities. Hoping it can include topics such as pros/cons of different types and styles, and cover some of the stuff below:
Institutional vs. Retail
Paid a % of assets under mgt (AUM) or Commission based?
Fee paid by client vs. fee paid by product
1099 vs. W-2
Internal vs. third party products
How actively managed?
Credentials required by firm (broker/dealer, RIA, etc.)
Credentials required by investment professional (Series 7, etc.)
Thank you.
