Better for FT S&T: IDB or IBD? or something else?

So i'm on hold at a BB for my last S&T opportunity for the summer. If this falls through, I will obviously have to look for something else, and i have a few connections at a couple Inter-dealer brokerage firms. Would it be better to take something like this, or look for a boutique ibank to work at for the summer? obviously i want to get as close to actual trading as i can, but there arent many "boutique" trading firms that take on interns that i know of. therefore, if trying to get into S&T FT, which would be better to go after? I think IDB puts me closest to the traders(and i might be able to build somewhat of a network), but this is more like a sales role, whereas working for a boutique bank might seem more "quanty" or might be looked upon better than IDB for a summer job. what do you guys think?
