Big 4 Assurance to IB / Capital Markets

Hi,

Three years of audit is enough. I want to take the next step in my career, so I am targeting IB and Capital Markets roles. I am comfortable with the current state of my resume, but I am looking for constructive criticism to make it even better. In particular, I would appreciate comments on the following points (and any others that come to your mind):
1) Should I replace any points under Big 4 experience to showcase technical accounting topics I have worked on extensively from an audit standpoint (Business combination and asset acquisition accounting, valuation of complex structured products/transactions, goodwill impairment analysis, allowance for loan loss accounting).
2) Is my point: "Achieved exceeds expectations ratings.." strong enough to keep? Does anyone in IB care what I was rated at a Big 4?
3) Any comments on my inclusion of CPA and CFA Candidate? I have all my requirements fulfilled for the CPA, I am just waiting for a piece of paper to arrive in the mail. And I have signed up for the June Level 1 CFA - I do not mean to overstate my qualifications, but to allude that I am serious in my intention to change careers.
4) Should I include my Undergrad GPA or would it be misleading to only show Master's?

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!

This is IB/CM specific, but you should do the following: 1) Quantify everything and try and illustrate the impact you had. You did a good job of this with you audit experiences, but your other two experiences seem to just recite your role/responsibility 2) Instead of saying that you "exceeded expectations" it be more impact to find out how many people actually got that review, so you knew where you stood (e.g. rated top 25% , etc.) 3) I don't think having the credentials (CPA, CFA, will hurt), better safe than sorry, so I would include them

Take my advice with a grain of salt - Im in consulting, but interviewed with a decent amount of IBs

Thanks for your note. What do you think about removing one or both of my internships to build out my Big 4 experience. For example, I have experience reviewing models for complex structured energy deals and providing audit support for the purchase price analysis of a couple business acquisitions. Both are relevant, but I need to think through quantifying / detailing accomplishments for those items.

Formatting: 1) You can remove all those periods at the end of each bullet point. 2) Have the location/dates aligned to the far right with margin 3) Add a space between the end of bullet points and start of new section

Substantial: 1) It's 2014, things from 2008/2009 shouldn't be there - I think 3 yrs is the max you would go back 2) Not sure about the activites section unless you plan on putting a bit more onto it 3) Yes, I think you should remove CFA Lvl 1, if you haven't completed it

Along with what Boski said, I wouldn't go past 3 - 4 years. Remember, its quality not quantity. I think its more effective for you to provide more in-depth overview of your impact than just a laundry list of work and high-level stuff you did.
