Big 4 Internship + Barclays Sophomore Skills Program?
I have already accepted a summer offer with one of the Big 4 Accounting firms for this summer. However, I legitimately think that my passion lies in Banking and would like to learn more about it.
I'm finishing my app to Barclays's Sophomore Skills program (day long commitment in April). My resume already includes some info on my incoming position. Is it frowned upon to double dip like that? Should I point that out somewhere else in my app?
Cheers
Until you've set foot in the office and done real work, no. You can't list future positions on your resume, nor can you list future responsibilities of this future position. Should you get an interview with Barclays, then it's safe to bring it up.
Bullsandbears,
Thanks so much for the input. I didn't have any future responsibilities or anything listed under it, it was literally just the company name, the title of the internship and "Offer Accepted: January 2016". I felt that being "transparent" was the way to go but I'll more than likely end up taking it out before I finish the app. Have a good one!
The application for the sophomore skills program specifically says that you shouldn't attend if you have already secured an offer for summer 2016
I got accepted to other banks' identification programs and I have included my upcoming internship (in tech think Google/Facebook) in my resume. However, since big 4 is less prestigious, I don't think it will necessarily help you out. Also, they're calling this program Sophomore Springboard and is not an interview for this summer (that already finished). Sophomore Skills which happened in January was for this summer.
Laxskill,
Thanks for your answer. I was a little bit confused about the program's name because I do know that Sophomore Skills was in January, but their website also lists this as "Sophomore Skills (can't add links yet but Google Sophomore Skills Barclays and it's the first link) so I went with that for the post. I do know its not an interview program but I just wanted to get a general feel for the field and for what others in a similar position to mine had done in the past, if anything at all. This is my first app for a banking program so I wanted to make sure it is as polished as it can be.
By the way, congrats on the internship in tech! Should be a pretty dope experience, I'm sure
Hi, have you guys received an interview for the sophomore springboard program? (or an acceptance) Thanks
@ce2317" I did a phone interview with them on Monday. It took about 15 minutes. But I have yet heard back from them.
I just heard back today (a few days after my phone screen) so they're probably getting back to people in the next few days.
how did the phone screen go? was it technical or was it behavioral?
all behavioral
Has everyone heard back? Or is it just me who hasn't??
I haven't heard back yet.
