Had a phone interview with big 4 firm Tuesday night. Got call after passing along resume at a networking event. Now this morning got email from HR to schedule another Phone interview for end of this week/beginning of next. Not sure what to make of it since have never heard of anyone having 2 phone interviews in the Big 4. Thoughts?

Big Four TAS Phone Screen (Originally Posted: 09/25/2011)
I got an email from a Big4 advisory recruiter telling me to expect a call in order to "jump start the interview process." I assume this is a phone screen. I should note that I haven't specified any specific group in their advisory practice (there's over 10). Can anyone interpret this for me? What should I be expecting? Thanks as always.
Be able to elaborate on everything that's in your resume. Know why you want to do TAS, and going a step further, have a top group or two picked out and be able to tell them that if asked. Know why you want to do TAS over trying to do banking, and don't let this catch you off guard and make it sound like you would rather do banking if you could. Doubt you will get any technicals but you may get a behavioral question or two. Just focus on why the particular job, why the city you're applying for, and the why you'd be a good fit.
Appreciate the advice, I'll make sure to draft up some answers for those questions. If you had to pick between Management Consulting or TAS, based on compensation, exit opps, quality of work assignments, and travel, what would you go with? PE is my ultimate goal, way down the line, if that plays a factor.
SlickRick - I had the same choice and sort of goals. Goals also include HF more than PE though. This is the thing..the path in Consulting is 2-3 years then MBA, and then move into Finance. Without an MBA, I think the path to buyside is easier from TAS. With a top MBA they are probably both the same. So for myself, I decided that I wanted to try to move to buyside without MBA from Big4...this would mean TAS as you would have more relevant work, and not be worried about being forced out after 3 years in consulting.
If you want MBA then consulting...if not but still want finance, then TAS is an easier switch. This is my opinion from speaking to a bunch, idk how others feel.
I actually interned in the Big 4 TAS practice, and if you want to pursue PE, you have to do thorough research on the TAS services and be specific as to which one. TAS is a broad term that can include financial due diligence, valuation, corporate finance and accounting advisory. From what I've experienced, all of the big 4 have a variation of these four segments under TAS. Needless to say, they make a huge difference in terms of exit opps

i currently work at a big4 in the audit practice. been here for a year now but dont want to stay for too long. i was able to get a hold of the contact info of a big4 TAS recruiter (at a diff big4 firm)and shot him an email expressing my interest in the valuations group ( i have no valuations experience at all, but i am willing to take the time to learn it on my own if need be). he asked for a copy of my resume and we set up a time to speak later in the week. so my question is what should i expect?
my plan was to stay another busy season before looking to switch to TAS so I was thinking it would be a casual conversation maybe him giving me some pointers on things to work on to position myself to join his firm a year from now. but what if they are looking to hire someone sooner than that? then this will essentially be like a phone screening before an interview. so is there anything i should brush up on? i dont mind leaving audit now to go to TAS so if they are looking to hire now, then i dont want to blow it. any suggestions?
why you like TAS, their firm, what experience you've had in TAS type work
highly doubt anything technical will be discussed. be able to articulate why you have an interest in tas/valuation. don't bash your audit experience or the audit practice. be able to address why you are considering changing firms instead of looking for a similar jump internally. after that, just know your resume.
