Big 4 wants me to talk to my employer before interview process

Essentially, what the subject says.

HR reached out to me that they would like to speak to me about a role at the company and that I would be a great match etc. all the bull crap. I am in the market as I am trying to move away from my company due to really crappy culture, and also I want to get some big name on my resume before jumping ship for MBA and IB job. So I took the call with the firm.

At the end of the call I was told since that my company has a partnership with them (recently started), I will have to let my employer know either just before the offer stage or just before the interview stage, but the lady had to check with the hiring partner as to which at which stage it should happen. I would totally be ok with telling my employer about possibly leaving just before the offer stage, but now this gets me thinking and I am not really sure what to do.

Has any of you been put in such a situation and if so what are your opinions?
