Big Four Consulting
Hello Friends - Just graduated from college with accounting degree, back in NYC, a family friend works at a Big Four firm. They offered to pass my resume along at their firm. Currently not planning to get my masters in accountancy or CPA, so I would be looking more at a consulting gig. What should I tell them?
That you want to work in their (insert division here*) consulting arm.
*Such divisions may include: Strategy Operations IT Audit Transactional Advisory Also may include acquired divisions, i.e., Monitor for Deloitte, Strategy& for PwC, Parthenon for E&Y etc.
Make sure you get the exact name right.
99% of accounting degrees I know went on to get MPA/CPA and the 1% that didn't wanted to forget the past 4 years of accounting and wished that they picked econ or finance instead. just curious, am guessing you fall in the latter category?
Anyway - tell them advisory or consulting and feel free to stipulate a preferred industry you might have. Otherwise Accounting major means you get to have fun with audits and tax work (personally i'd rather deep fry my own penis than do tax or audit).
