Biochemistry / Ivey Business School into Finance
Hi all,
I am a sophomore at Western, and going to Ivey Business School in Canada this September for an HBA.
Finance interests me; I've been reading WSO and Investment Banking: Explained and "Investment Banking" by Rosenbaum. I am also thinking of learning WSP this summer.
I am interested in finance because my mentor, and pharmacist, would always discuss mergers of big pharmaceutical companies that interested me. I like numbers, have a 3.85GPA in biochemistry at a highly regarded program in Canada, but I have little experience in finance except for clubs I managed since I always wanted to become a physician before.
1) If applying to jobs, should I still list doing WSP as a resource? I have heard it may hurt me due to the interviewer asking more technicals. However, I have no other finance related experiences.
2) I have been trying to network. How should I tactfully ask for a job from a connection I have built?
3) What career prospects should I read more into? I know healthcare IB is an uphill battle for me, but I'll still try my best despite the odds.
