Blackstone - Entrance level analyst

hello monkeys,

does anyone know when Blackstone starts recruiting for entrance level analyst positions?

also, for lateral hires, is there a certain time during the year they are looking to fill those spots?

any info would be tremendously helpful,

thanks...

lateral within the industry (currently in PE), not within BX.

BicBicBicBoi:
lateral? did you have a previous BX job?

also, would potentially going through the summer analyst position be the right way to go - if it's too hard to directly go into a full time analyst or associate role (also i dont have IBD experience, just about a year of PE experience - if that helps in deciding what route i should pursue).

Do you guys know anything about getting a summer analyst position at BX? I'm currently a junior at a "semi-target" and I was wondering whether or not BX was recruiting general analysts, or maybe even PE analysts? Please help guys, thanks!

personally, i think it would be very hard to get a spot from a semi-target, ull be competing with targets and ppl like me who are already working in PE. they dont have a lot of spots but i'm not sure myself, since i am the one asking the question :P but i hope other monkeys will be able to chime in...

Advisory: I have a feeling most of BX's SA's fall into 2 categories:

  1. Juniors who completed BB IBD or boutique PE SA's during sophmore summer and were looking to upgrade to BX their junior summer, or who didnt get asked back to BB for their junior summer.

  2. The ones who dont know about McKinsey yet: The H/Y/P double major in Maths & Physics that developed their own coding language at age 7.

Im guessing the turnover from SA to FT is high with any 'top ups' being drawn from IBD laterals.

Private Equity:

SA's: See number 2 above and add in the ex MBB business analyst starting his 1st tier MFE or MFin program.

FT: Laterals from GS, MS, Lazard etc...

thanks for the comment - sounds about right.

do you think its good to aim for lazard or even houlihan lokey as an intermediate step then? (since BB are out of the question, as they have such a structured recruiting process).

Absolutely, if BX's recruitment is over for you then try something else. But it really depends on whether you want to stay in PE or go to Corp Finance Advisory.

Houlihan Lokey are really strong at restructuring so if thats what you want then go for it. Lazard obviously has a better brand name and is an M&A giant. I have on friend who was Lazard M&A out of undergrad and is now at BX PE.

Both of these have PE 'services' divisions - i.e corporate finance / valuations for PE's as well as fund raising but are not actually PE.

While your looking at other advisory firms you should throw in:

Greenhill Evercore Perella Weinberg Partners etc...

thanks, very helpful. SB for you!

I had a BX interview (in the PE group) for a lateral position this year, but the VP told me i need more experience before I have a shot. I am hoping to go Lazard (spend 2yrs) -> BX. time to contact Lazard recruiters :)
