Does anyone have any opinion on Blackstone M&A in London. I know that they are very good in New York but I do not about their london offices.
Also what are peoples opinions on SocGen's M&A group in London
Last question - Am I right in thinking that Goldman Sachs does not have an M&A product group? If so could someone explain the rationale behind this?
Thanks for your help

socgen is shitty afaik, maybe
socgen is shitty afaik, maybe good in france?
not familiar with gs structure, theyll just have industry groups then etc
bx london is much worse than nyc
BX in London perhaps does not
BX in London perhaps does not get the deal flow the NY office gets, but it still has a tremendous brand name. So if you have that offer for an internship I would say take it...unless you can leverage it for a GS/MS/JPM or Lazard/Rothschild, the latter being more of a cultural pick.
It seems that SocGen is
It seems that SocGen is investing $$ to push its M&A arm, in 2010 it's ranked 3rd on French league tables. However, outside France, I don't think it's there yet.
Socgen is nowhere in m&a.
Socgen is nowhere in m&a. they recruited the head of JPM in France last year and achieved a pretty good 2010 in France (3rd as ml77) They are also expanding in London but its going to take a while for them to be competitive outside of France.
BX in London is quite good.
GS in London is organized by product (debt, levfin, equity, derivatives), sector (Fig, Retail-Consumer, TMT) and by country (UK M&A, Italy M&A, Nordic M&A, Nordic ECM, France ECM)
