It's called Tactical Opps
Nope, it's NYC for the BAAM's Special Situations Investing Group
You're both wrong; it's called Strategic Opps.
There is a Tac Opps group and a Strategic Partners Group - the two are very different.
I'm sure this is on their website and/or linkedin profiles if you don't believe me.
Just some clarification: Strategic opportunities / bsof: part of baam that does co investments largely sourced from its underlying fund of funds investments or other relationships
Strategic partners: the hedge fund stakes and seeding biz of baam
Tactical ops: not part of baam, though the poster above me somewhat correctly characterizes the strategy
Didn't know about the first one, thx for clarifying
Awesome, it's the Strategic opportunities / bsof. Anything on comp / experience / culture / lifestyle / career progression / track record / etc would be very helpful.
What is everyone's take on Tac Opps? Been around for ~4 years now and have already raised $11bn and deployed a good chunk of that. Saw on a disclosure somewhere an IRR on Fund 1 of 20%.
How is the group viewed in the hierarchy? Obviously less "prestigious" than BX PE, but would it be inline with upper MM guys? I'm not a prestige whore, it is more-so a question of setting a ceiling. For instance, if you were seeking to lateral from BX Tac Opps, where wold you go? MF or Upper MM?

pm me for more but, broadly (these things are always generalisation), long working-hours culture more attuned to IBs, big focus on distressed RE, career progression is nicely laid out and you will earn in the top bracket if you compare similar other places. but they get their pound of flesh.
It won't let me PM because I don't have enough posts. Could you PM me? Thanks
I wonder about this as well and would appreciate if you could pm me too
Bump this.. .Curious
