if this isnt a sign of the times...bloomberg not accepting applicants from investment banking. wow
Maybe they've already selected the person they want to hire, but have to post due to HR guidelines. So they just change the job description and requirements to suit this one candidate.
It's a common practice in the public sector...sad to see Bloomberg stoop this low.
but i would agree folks in investment banking, research, corporate finance, and similar arenas would feel a bit underemployed for this little role in englewood cliffs, nj

Perhaps they meant "Previous experience in Sales & Trading required. IBD? Research? AM? No thanks."
If you have previous experience on an analytics system at, say, JP Morgan, you're qualified for about 95% of the jobs at Bloomberg that have something to do with the product you supported.

Don't see why this is a surprise. Many positions at Bloomberg are analytics and quantitative positions. While putting deals together is very helpful experiences in many places, Bloomberg is probably looking for more of a background that involves hands-on experience with financial products- something that involves more of an S&T, quant, or analytics background.
There are plenty of positions that bankers are qualified for that S&T folks aren't qualified for. So don't feel too bad if you're a banker.
