Blowing it all out before training

So yeah...once training starts my life will be pretty much over. I am trying to set up a week of wild stuff before it starts. Does anyone have an idea what's going on in the world the last week in june/first week in july? I'd preferably go somewhere where there is a big event and not just to a random place where you can party all year long.

big unit:
move to NYC July 1st, you should have 2-3 weeks to just rage NYC style with all your NYC friends
Don't do that. If you're graduating broke, you will be $1-2K in debt by the time your first day of work starts just moving out here. That doesn't even factor in three weeks of partying with $7/glass beer (which adds up FAST).

Show up a few weeks early, but if you just wait until your first vacation to party and spend a lot of money, your cost of capital will be 3% rather than 18% for the credit card debt you will rack up. You will also sleep better at night having lower credit card bills and more money in the bank in the interim.

My suggestion: how many of your friends are staying on campus this summer? Do you have a 12 month lease that runs through the summer? Why not spend the summer on campus and pick up a new hobby that is relatively inexpensive but your parents would hate if you were still living on their dime?

The summer after my senior year, I learned to ride a motorcycle and bought a Ninja 250. This is something that I get to enjoy today because I learned it three years ago, but I wouldn't be able to learn now because I don't have the time and NYC makes everything fun to do impossible to learn.

That may not be a great suggestion depending on your financial situation, but a Ninja 250 costs less than $2K if you buy used, and you don't accrue the expense immediately- you can always sell it to someone else if you wind up in financial trouble.

Summerfest Music Festival in Milwaukee... 11 days at that exact time. Google it before you knock it.
Will second this suggestion if you live within driving distance of Milwaukee and don't need a hotel. Tickets are like $20, drinks are expensive by Midwestern standards but still very cheap by NYC standards, and it's money well spent. It's a lot of fun and it's right on Lake Michigan.

Just please make sure you exercise some fiscal restraint during the summer. You will thank yourself if we have a double-dip recession or you have unexpected expenses. If you wait a year, spending $1000 will cost you $3/month in interest rather than $15.

Dude, there is one really obvious answer to this:

GO TO THE WORLD CUP!!!

Last week of June/first week of July will be the beginning of the knockout stages.

Even if you don't like soccer, South Africa will be the biggest party on the planet for the months of June and July, hands down.

+1 World Cup!!! I was going to go this year but Rio 2014 sounds so much better
