BNY Mellon Markets Group SA?
Anyone have any info on this? I have an SA interview coming up and I read that the group was recently formed by combining the Global Markets, Global Collateral Services and Prime Services groups. Would this essentially be an S/T internship?
A large portion of their revenue comes from FX and Securities Lending
Can you post the job description? Those three groups are really broad so it's hard to tell what you'll be doing exactly and what to prepare for.
Yeah thats the problem, the job description is really vague, all it says is the Global Markets Group and that your trained in a certain department..
I heard last year they axed their entire rates S&T group. Not sure if that matters to you but I did hear that not sure if anyone else can confirm it.
Yeah they cut their derivatives group and rolled everything into this "Markets Group"
Look, there's still people there that make investment decisions. But I'm sure you can read the writing on the wall. Front office services just isn't BNY's bread and butter. Not sure if you've read up on sec lending / collateral mgmt, but if you're thinking this will be like S&T at a BB I think you'll be disappointed.
As far as the actual interview goes WSO's own Company DB is a great help here. I'd be ready for any behavioral question they may throw at you, know about the culture of the company. Technical questions may come up here or there but if you're sharp with current events (Bloomberg website / WSJ etc) you'll be fine.

Have an SA interview coming up, does anyone have info on this group? Seems like mostly sec lending and collateral management, however a good portion of the revenue comes from FX. Are there equity/debt desk placements?
BNYM does have a DCM and an ECM group however they are incredibly small, like 2-4 people. Basically they're there because some clients don't want to find another bank to issue debt/equity. I doubt they take interns or plan on hiring anytime soon.
That said, the markets group wouldn't be a bad place to get some experience as an SA. There are some smart people working in that group, but don't expect any formal offers or anything. My advice would be to learn as much as you can while you're there and leverage for better SA or FT opportunity elsewhere.
