Bonus (Starting mid-year)
If one starts at an investment bank mid-year, would he still be eligible for a full bonus or would it be pro-rated?

If you worked for 6 months before bonuses, expect to be comped for 6 months, unless you negotiated something (and have it in writing!) beforehand.
When do first years get their bonus? (Originally Posted: 05/26/2007)
Say you start work in the middle of the year (July) and bonus season is at the start of a year, how are first year analysts paid their bonus? Is the bonus stubbed?
If you have to wait a full year, when is the 2nd year bonus paid? Or will one have to work 1.5 years until they get their first bonus?
Also, at what time will one be considered a '2nd year analyst'? At July the following year?
Thx.
You don't typically get stubbed until you reach associate. Analysts receive their bonuses in July.
yep. you are a 2nd year when you are done with being a 1st year, so a year later in jul :)

1st year bonus - FT analyst at a top BB (Originally Posted: 04/07/2007)
as a FT analyst at a top BB starting in July, what type of year end bonuses are the norm...Im talking after 5-6 months at the firm, not full year bonus 1.5 yrs from now.
some banks pay their bonus the following july or august...
Do most banks pay their first year bonuses at the end of the year, after a full year's work, or after 18 months at the firm (end of the following year)?
First year analysts get bonuses after a full year of work. Usually end of June of the next year.
i started in january 06 and was paid mid-year, so they gave 1/2 of what they claimed would have been the full year bonus. the next scheduled bonus would hit in june 07 at which point i should get the full-year figure.
a guap

How does this work? First years start in July -- is the bonus Pro rated? When are Bonuses generally announced/distributed?
Most 1st years get their bonus numbers in July so there is no pro-rated amount.
If for some reason, a bank pays on the same schedule as Associate and above then Analysts will receive a stub bonus.
How about associates? When do they find out their bonus #'s?
Associates get their bonus # in February and the money should be in the account by March
I have a question about this too - what have these numbers been like in the past, specifically in S&T? Just trying to put together a rough budget for next year (starting in July) and wondering what Stubs have been like. I know they were pretty crappy last year, but how bout in the past few years?
First post, but this site has been very valuable to me over the past year so thank you for that.
At my Bank, on average (date they get numbers - date they get money)
Associates to MD: (1/29 - 1/31) Analysts: (6/23 - 6/30)
bump
anyone else have any insight on this? Specifically about the size of first year stubs? Thanks
Last year stub at one shop for S&T Associates was $17k. That's about a third of what it was the previous year. No idea what this year will be like...
