Books about Standard Oil and Rockefeller
Hi guys,
Just a quick topic to talk about books. I'm looking for a book dealing with standard oil (the rise and the fall).
I found many books on Amazon but maybe you guys have some feeback about one of them in particular ?
Same question with Rockefeller. I don't want a book which presents rockefeller as a hero but something more about its work and how he participated in the evolution of the american (and world) oil sector.
If you know a book that gathers both subjects, i'm listening :)
Thanks !
If you have 4 hours to spare you can learn about Vanderbilt, Rockefeller, Carnegie and JP Morgan. The history channel did a mini series about them called The Men Who Built America...probably the first thing that is actually about history they've aired in years.
You might check out "The Prize" by David Yergin (SP?). It won a few big awards when it came out and is a very enjoyable read. While not specifically about Rockefeller and Standard Oil, it does spend a lot of time on the company. You might also like it better than a book specifically geared at SO because it frames the birth and development of the whole industry, not just one company.
Hope this helps. Enjoy!!
