Both Hong Kong and New York???

Hey guys, I am wondering if it is possible to do both the Hong Kong and New York recruiting. Both are great opportunities but Hong Kong recruiting happens much earlier---the superday will be in January 9~12 or so. Have anyone got experience of successfully completing both the New York and Hong Kong recruitings?
Thanks again guys!

I don't see why it would be a problem at this point. HK recruiting is finished with the North American region starting the process. General consensus is that although you can apply to both, seeing your applications for multiple regions is a bit frowned upon.

Since Superdays for HK offices are held early/mid January and the offers are out late January, with most of them being exploding offers, you would have to decline the offer to apply for N.A. offices(that is, if you get the offer from HK)

That's exactly what the problem is, redevils. I would like to give it a shot at both locations and explore all of my options. But HK/SG is pushing me to sign right now and I won't have a chance at ny if i do.

It's either 1) you sign it now and give up NY(and wonder for the next several years whether you would've gotten it or not) or 2) give up the HK offer and go for the NY positions. There's no way HK firms will wait and see how you do the NY recruiting because that's why they have exploding offers in the first place.

I am exactly in the same situation. I have an offer from a HK office and decided against taking the risk of foregoing that opportunity for a NY position that I might not get. After all, it is a very hard market even for the best of candidates...

I'm going for banking. Can't say for sure but if you want a career in NY, then going for HK for internship is not your best option. I want a full-time job in HK and am aiming primarily for full-time conversion after the internship.

However, to directly answer your question, having an internship in the HK office of firm A would give you a head start in the recruitment process for the NY office of the firm for full-time positions. Interviewers would specifically tell you "this interview is meaningless. I just called the HK office to discuss your work ethic and performance."

Nothing is definite, and I believe the "possibility of landing a ny full time position with a hk/sg internship" can be swayed by so many different factors such as the economy. Internship-full time conversion is the easiest way out for you, in my opinion.
