Boutique IB offer - Should I take it? (with big four background)
I have one year of assurance experience in big four and recently got an offer from a boutique IB in New York. The big problem is that the base salary is ONLY $60K. It's even less than what I am making now. My concern is that if I don't get paid or valued now, how can I count on their promises of bonus or promotions. What are your thoughts on this?
Does the name of the bank start with a B and end with an E?
What's your experience with them?
how big is this boutique? what kind of pedigree do the senior guys have? Where have you seen some of the previous analysts transfer job wise and b-school wise?
I was facing a very similar situation as you. After a lack of success with IB recruiting (out of a t-10 mba) I had an offer with a LA boutique that offered 65k base for Associate 1. I declined it and am now in a corp dev team at a F500 where Im working on deals 10x-20x the size of the boutiques deals.
Around 30 people I would say. Previous analysts I know went to much bigger investment banks and went to top 5 MBA.
