Just got accepted to the 2013 BP Sophomore Experience in Chicago this summer for a week. Thought we should start a forum for those others who were accepted to name off schools and backgrounds and career interests and such.
mostly from BP's core midwest schools but there were others represented. The program was great and I learned a ton that will help me with interviews, even at other firms
Just had had the interview. It's personality fit and really laid back. I'm pretty sure the guy interviewing me was a trader, but I'm not 100%. He wanted to know my background and why I wanted to join the program. What I like to do in my free time, how I differ from the other peopling applying, etc.. We talked about the markets for a while and I asked him some questions on the type of positions BP traders take. Pretty much it.. was about 15-20 mins interview.
it was basically an extended recruiting event for BP IST. lots of kids from the midwest (notre dame, michigan, michigan state) as well as texas, texas a&m, and u. houston.
edit: although parts of it were very educational / informative
I got accepted. All my responses in the application process were all about trading. I even through in two pretty detailed options trade ideas for crude oil. In the phone interview, I expressed my interests in trading and my prior education on trading. Also, I networked with a fuel trader in Louisiana that knows the head trader at BP. I figured my only shot at getting accepted was focusing everything around trading because my GPA was only 3.3 at the time. Hope that helps for next year.

yeah, im going next week. Anything I should read up on before I go or do they assume I know nothing about trading?
how would doing any of that help anybody other than to measure dicks
I have a phone interview with them. Did you as well? What was the interview like? More technical or personality fit?
Hey I was wondering if you could tell me more about the program. Are the participants mostly from the midwest? What schools are majorly represented?
