Breaking into Wall Street? Advice please!
Hi everyone, this is my first time posting on WSO. Hope someone can help.
I am an international student, in my junior year and from a non-target school. I got a pretty good resume and am able to get interviews from JPM, DB, Citi, and a couple MM. I just attended a superday earlier but I think I got dinged...So far, I got no replies/rejected by the other firms. It is pretty late in the recruiting cycle now. What can I do to break into IB?
Pick up the phone and network? I know...but most BB/MM are done with recruiting. And since I am an international student, many of those boutiques will not give me the Visa to work.
Any advice? Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks for any input. I am totally lost now.
Start looking for opportunities in your home country by networking and speaking with family, friends, etc...Contact your university careers center for information on possible financial services employment in your home country/find out if there are alumni there.
Best of luck!
Mountainvalley, thanks for your reply. But I think most IB in my home country is also done with recruiting. Do you think it is better for me to get a private/commercial banking intern at a large bank, or an IB intern at a no-name boutique?
Thanks!
