Bucs vs. Jags: Which NFL Team Will Win a Game First?
Both teams are going nowhere fast and it looks like it's a race between these two to draft Teddy Bridgewater. So who's it gonna be? I checked the schedules and they don't play each other this season, so there may be a chance that they both go winless...
Easy one - Jags pull off the upset over the 49ers this weekend :-)
In all seriousness - will have to go with Tampa Bay. Jags offense is beyond feeble & sputtering...
TB will win first. They have a decent defense and Revis is still slowly gaining confidence from his knee injury. Their offense is pedestrian without Doug Martin. TB special teams are average at best. The Jags are plain awful on every side of the ball. I can't see the jags doing much of anything this year.
I'm reminded of when I was a kid and the Bucs were a new franchise. They put the "t" in terrible and went almost two whole seasons without a win. At one point a reporter asked the owner, "What do you think about your team's execution?" to which he replied, "I'm in favor of it." True story.
I have to think that Tampa will win a game first. Maybe on Monday night in two weeks at home vs. the Dolphins. Neither team will go without a win in my opinion. The Jags still have win-able games:TEN 2x, ARI, BUF. They also play the Colts in week 17 and they will already have clinched the division, so they may rest starters.
I'm gonna disagree with everyone here and say Jags will win first. If you look at TB's matchups left, only week 16 seems like a possible win vs STL Rams. Jags have a lot more opportunities before that week with Arizona, Buffalo, and Cleveland.
Unfortunately TB, although I'd love to see them go 0-16 because of Schiano.
TB for sure. Jags don't even try.
Alright, interesting question then: I've got both Kaepernick and Matt Ryan in my money league. Which one do I start this weekend? Kap has thrown up underwhelming fantasy points all season while Ryan has been solid. Really can't figure this one out. Kap is projecting slightly better than Ryan because of the matchup. What say you, WSO?
I still say take Ryan. He's been much more consistent, and if Steven Jackson does indeed return this week, he'll have another offensive weapon. If White or Julio was in this would be a no brainer.
I should also mention that I'm up against my biggest inter-league rival and we are constantly eviscerating each other on the boards. Like, really hateful shit. I need this win.
I dropped Steve Smith a couple weeks ago and he picked him up and played him last night and he didn't do shit (put up 4.2 pts). So he's basically down a man going into the weekend.
Matty Ice has been great for me all season (season low 19 pts), but we also have 6 pt TDs which really makes him more useful. The Cardinals also have given up on average about 2 TDs per week. Plus, Jacksonville hasn't been THAT bad against opponent QBs, look at these numbers.
1 KC 20 2 @Oak 10 3 @Sea 46 4 Ind 23 5 @StL 26 6 @Den 17 7 SD 17
Besides that Seattle 46 points that isn't bad at all (Denver 17, Indy 23, SD 17).
Having said that I am the George Costanza of fantasy football and almost every move I have made this year has been horribly wrong, so keep that in mind.
Prediction: Jags beat out the Bucs to the first one, Schiano gets canned and TB continues this spiral.
Although, from a draft perspective, I would still take Clowney #1 overall or try and trade that pick for a huge haul of draft picks (including a future 1st rounder).
Bridgewater is good, but hasn't really proven himself this season and the loss to UCF still hurts his draft stock. Still some other potential franchise QB's in this upcoming draft ( Mariota from Baylor, and Hundley from UCLA come to mind), and Clowney is worth more from a perspective of raw talent.
Eddie, who else you got on that team? Provided Roddy White can come back with some rest and be able to go at even 80% of what he is capable of, Matt Ryan looks like the better play. Kap doesnt't have as many targets to throw to, and Gore/Kendall Hunter may get the lions share of touches running the football against the Jags.
Here's the breakdown of the two teams (click to expand):
Not going to give any advice because my top 4 picks are all injured (Doug Martin, Steven Jackson, Jimmy Graham, Randall Cobb) but just wanted to give a thumbs-up on fleaflicker.
Also, there's no way the Jags don't win a couple between weeks 10 and 16. No one they're scheduled to play has a winning record.
Same caveat as Cruncharoo (for my Fantasy skills), but why play Helu Jr. over Randle? Porous Eagles secondary, taxed by having to cover Nicks & Cruz makes him a more attractive play than a RB who had a flash in the pan type of game last week. Its also likely the Redskins shift to a running back by commitee type system so he will compete with Alfred Morris for touches.
Ryan vs. Kaep, is probably a gametime type decision for me. If White plays, I would put Ryan in.
Tough call between Ryan and Kap. Didn't realize how bad Kap's stats were this season until I took a peek (bottom 1/3 of QB stats). Good news is Jax' defensive stats in terms of sacks, interceptions and fumbles are all shitting the bed too (near the bottom). For this weekend, I'd go with Kap..
@"Edmundo Braverman" Definitely Matt Ryan... consider this, SF will blow up Jacksonville quickly and let Gore finish the game, limiting throwing TDs as well as Kaepernick doing risky runs.
Start Kaep, hes just been 'released' to run by Harbro so his point totals should increase ~20% or so going forward.
Picked him up off waivers and he dropped 27.8. All I was missing was a QB, problem now solved
The 2 TDs is a fluke, won't be a regular thing. And if it becomes one, expect him to take some time off to nurse his wounds
With 6 pts for a TD pass, I'm going with Ryan. SF loves to run in the red zone, and while Jaquizz Rodgers has had a few TDs of late, I can't see that continuing. Arizona is an underrated defense and I wouldn't expect a great game from Ryan, I think he's safer than Kaep and should have more passing TDs.
Edit: Standard league? Any bonuses for receiving, tds etc etc?
Give us a screen cap of your waiver wire if you really want to win.
Eddie, you're going to get blown the fuck up. Sorry man.
If you really want to win this week you are going to have to make some clutch waiver wire pickups or trades before Sunday.
Slip streaming a defense won't help you considering both of you guys have the sweetest match ups of the week. Can't get blood from a stone you know?
Start Ryan over Kap considering the 9ers will get the lead and then run the ball with gore and hunter until the clock runs out.
You need to do better than Roy Helu. RGIII is against Denver, Peyton is going to throw 100 tds and the skins will be playing from behind. Helu isn't going to get much work.
I too am playing boykin at flex this week (over garcon because I need a higher ceiling to beat my opponent with my byes and injuries). He should be boom or bust. Depends if defenses adjust for him and what kind of coverage he draws. His floor is 10 pts with a ceiling of 20.
Your problems come from your opponents nasty rb core and insane qb matchup. Those three should go off. Plus he has blackmon which means this guy has an idea of what hes doing.
Shit man. You might want to tank your points this week so you'll have a high waiver for next week, maybe some people drop top flight players for bench room during byes.
If your league is competitive you probably won't be able to make these scoops but if they're available grab percy harvin and jonathan stewart off waivers. Both coming off the PUP and both studs.
No fucking way this is happening, for several reasons.
1) Up against an arch-rival and if I get blown out I'll never live it down.
2) I'm the Commish and I have a policy of publicly crucifying anyone I even suspect of tanking.
3) To that end, we've instituted a domination penalty in my league. Any week you get beat by more than 50 points you're coughing up big dough.
Yeah, even though Kap is projecting higher at the moment, Frank Gore scares the shit out of me. Plus my Ryan-Gonzo tandem could go off pretty big for me. Leaning towards Ryan, but will probably be a gametime decision.
As for Helu, he's not even in the running with Morris. Morris is the man on that team, but Helu is a dirty vulture and I fully expect him to steal at least one TD.
Ryan
Also, 6 pt TD's for QBs in my league. Do with that what you will. Plus a bonus for going over 300 yds on the day, and a 2 pt bonus for TD's over 50 yds and 3pts for TD's over 70 yds.
6 points for TDs makes the Ryan argument even more convincing to me.
If they both go winless who would get the first pick?

Tiebreakers
• Strength of schedule for the previous season is the first tie-breaker for teams with the same winning percentage. The team with the lowest strength of schedule percentage wins the tiebreaker and picks ahead of all other teams with the same record.
• Divisional and conference records are the next step in the tie-breaking procedure.
• As a last resort, a coin toss is used to determine the order of selection for teams with the same winning percentage.

Update:
I started Matty Ice, which ended up being a bad call as he only put up 17.35 pts versus Kap's 29.6, but I managed to pull out the win anyway, and I still have Seattle's defense to play tonight. Here's how it all shook out:
Just a brutal week for my archrival, so I'll be spending most of today kicking him while he's down.
Wow, that is an ugly matchup. I'm glad that you ended up getting the win even though you followed my advice, I did warn you that I am Costanza though. I had Andy Dalton on the bench (42 pts), I'll still get the win if the Seattle kicker puts up 6 or more tonight. My opponent tanked it as bad as yours.
This is why I love fantasy football, you can't be classy unless you kick a guy when he's down.
And despite Kap going off, Ryan was definitely still the right call. All I have to say is thank god for Calvin Johnson. 4 of my players scored 3 or fewer points this week. I'm 2 games up in 2nd place now with 3 easy matches,1 toss up, and 1 difficult one coming up. Playoffs are almost a lock.
Good to hear - I felt bad that I recommended Ryan when I saw Kaep's stats.
I watched that Matty Ice game, and it was goddamn terrible. Congrats on pulling out the win!
Also - Calvin Johnson had himself a game yesterday.
You have to view terrible in terms of expectations particularly in fantasy. Ill stick with Kaep as the 9ers make their playoff push and the Falcons start making offseason plans.
Ryan has been solid for me all year, so Crunch is right about that, but I'll be using Kap the rest of the season (after this week, natch) for a number of reasons, so I'm with Happy on that one as well.
Like eddie said, I have Dalton and will mostly be using him going forward.
How about them Jags! Let's see if TB can follow up tonight.
Hopefully TB can finish this...
I need Tannehill to get 1 TD pass to Clay. Then I won't have to put a hit out on him...
