Buy Side Asset Manager vs Asset Management arm of BB Investment Bank.
Hey all,
Had a couple general questions about the AM side of the industry.
-
Is it "significantly" harder to break into a buy side Asset Manager like BlackRock vs the AM arm of a BB Investment Bank like GSAM out of undergrad? What differentiates the two? (Im guessing its just the size of AUM?)
-
How do the two compare against each other in lifestyle(hours) and compensation? as well as compared to IB?
-
Would it be fair to say that both types of AM have less of an "up or out" culture compared to Banking?
Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.
