aren't they healthcare only?

"Look, you're my best friend, so don't take this the wrong way. In twenty years, if you're still livin' here, comin' over to my house to watch the Patriots games, still workin' construction, I'll fuckin' kill you. That's not a threat, that's a fact.

Background: Only do healthcare with offices in NYC and SF. Usually it is insurance, healthcare facilities (Hospitals and senior living) and healthcare services M&A and debt financing. Know a couple senior people that are very nice and overall a respectable firm but in a niche industry. Good deal flow this year and I believe they consistently rank near the top based on number of deals in the sector. Don't know anything about comp/bonuses.

Exit Ops: I have seen a number of analysts go to corp dev at healthcare companies and some go to healthcare PE funds. Haven't seen any go to PE funds that are not specialized in healthcare but does not mean that it isn't common. If you want to work in healthcare, I think it is a very solid MM choice.

do you already have an offer from that boutique?

i am just curious...my question to those of you who ask about the culture and etc. of specific firms, do you have offers from these companies? if not, what good does it do?????? so what if they have a good culture or a bad one if you don't have offers from them???

Old thread, but someone bumped it, so now I get to tell my interview story.

I went to a non-target, but managed to get an interview with Cain Brothers through some networking. My first-round interview was over Skype with one of their bankers. I believe she was a VP, but cannot remember. Anyway, she friends me on Skype so she can call me that day, but I don't accept right away because I never use Skype for anything, so she keeps sending me the friend request every day. I finally accept just to get the notifications to stop.

So, the day of the interview comes along, and I call her on Skype. She is sitting in a fairly large, windowless office that has papers strewn everywhere. I truly wanted to ask her if she's ever seen the top of her desk. She is also sitting at this odd angle that makes it look like she has her webcam just a few inches below the ceiling. Anyway, the interview starts, and as I'm answering a question, she takes a massive sip of her drink...noises and everything. I honestly thought she was about to inhale the glass. I didn't know whether I was supposed to stop, raise my voice while answering, or just continue on, so I just kept talking in the same tone. A few minutes later, she starts banging on her keyboard. It was so bizarre that I almost considered just disconnecting and dinging myself. She wasn't just typing hard, she was banging on her keyboard with such a force that I thought she might be having a breakdown.

Well, interview ends, I send a thank you email, and get dinged. Probably a good thing.
