aren't they healthcare only?
Yes they are soley focesed on healthcare banking
bump. does anyone have additional information regarding bonus and exit opps. I will reward in SB's

I have limited knowledge but as mentioned here they're a healthcare focused boutique with pay fairly comparable to well-established firms but very limited exit opportunities. At boutiques like this, you'll have to almost mold your own exit opportunities - they're not going to help you nor encourage it. Standard banking hours, maybe a little less
Cain Brothers as an Analyst? (Originally Posted: 12/08/2014)
Can someone shed some light on this firm? They are smaller, but the senior people seem to have great resumes. There isn't too much information about them, so please comment on exit ops, dealflow, prestige, culture, etc.
Background: Only do healthcare with offices in NYC and SF. Usually it is insurance, healthcare facilities (Hospitals and senior living) and healthcare services M&A and debt financing. Know a couple senior people that are very nice and overall a respectable firm but in a niche industry. Good deal flow this year and I believe they consistently rank near the top based on number of deals in the sector. Don't know anything about comp/bonuses.
Exit Ops: I have seen a number of analysts go to corp dev at healthcare companies and some go to healthcare PE funds. Haven't seen any go to PE funds that are not specialized in healthcare but does not mean that it isn't common. If you want to work in healthcare, I think it is a very solid MM choice.

It's a health care focused boutique investment bank.
Any thoughts?
as good as Leerink Swann, maybe better. ask them how their circus clowns are doing.
Don't do it, one of the partners will kill the other and have to sacrifice 50 virgin lambs to appease the vengeful Almighty God as Joseph weeps and creates the Noah flood.
relatively unknown but they are relatively strong in healthcare, considering thats all they do. Worked on a potential deal with them, they were alright.
dayaaam,
do you work at a BB or a MM? Were you on the buy side / the sell side or something when CB presented on the opposite side?
Competitive middle-market boutique exclusively healthcare-focused. Small analyst class and internship program is still relatively new.

Cain Brothers - Reputation and deal flow? (Originally Posted: 11/05/2008)
What do you guys know about this bank (reputation, track record, deal flow in this economy, etc.)? Thanks in advance.
Is an extremely reputable investment banking firm specializing in healthcare. I believe they are still the largest of their kind in the United States and are still making money in this economy. If you are interested in employment there, the hours are your basic ones for bankers (i.e about 100 hours a week). Enjoy

In terms of what? They are doing FT recruiting right now and I think that they have a small SA class typically 2-4 maybe
are the intv's more fit/technical? do you know if offers are extended to SAs?
They are a healthcare ib shop currently interviewing for full time analyst positions.
You know I am not sure if they gave offers but I was there on Friday for a final round and it was mostly fit, some very easy technicals but the interviewers did not have any questions they had to ask.
any further insights on the questions/interview process?

How does Cain Brothers (healthcare investment banking boutique) compare to other middle market healthcare boutique investment banks?
pretty bad bank
Cain is a very reputable in healthcare and are one of the bigger players in the space, albeit that is all they do. Very competitive to get in.

Anyone have general information on Cain Brothers regarding culture, growth, deal flow, exit opps etc.?
I understand that they are a MM boutique focusing on healthcare and from the look of their recent transactions typically deal in managed care and institutions.
do you already have an offer from that boutique?
i am just curious...my question to those of you who ask about the culture and etc. of specific firms, do you have offers from these companies? if not, what good does it do?????? so what if they have a good culture or a bad one if you don't have offers from them???
I agree get the offer first or at least an interview

Old thread, but someone bumped it, so now I get to tell my interview story.
I went to a non-target, but managed to get an interview with Cain Brothers through some networking. My first-round interview was over Skype with one of their bankers. I believe she was a VP, but cannot remember. Anyway, she friends me on Skype so she can call me that day, but I don't accept right away because I never use Skype for anything, so she keeps sending me the friend request every day. I finally accept just to get the notifications to stop.
So, the day of the interview comes along, and I call her on Skype. She is sitting in a fairly large, windowless office that has papers strewn everywhere. I truly wanted to ask her if she's ever seen the top of her desk. She is also sitting at this odd angle that makes it look like she has her webcam just a few inches below the ceiling. Anyway, the interview starts, and as I'm answering a question, she takes a massive sip of her drink...noises and everything. I honestly thought she was about to inhale the glass. I didn't know whether I was supposed to stop, raise my voice while answering, or just continue on, so I just kept talking in the same tone. A few minutes later, she starts banging on her keyboard. It was so bizarre that I almost considered just disconnecting and dinging myself. She wasn't just typing hard, she was banging on her keyboard with such a force that I thought she might be having a breakdown.
Well, interview ends, I send a thank you email, and get dinged. Probably a good thing.
That sounds miserable
Thanks for the info
Bump does anyone have any updated information on Cain? Specifically how keybanc acquisition is going to impact analyst exit ops?
