Call w/ GSAM Recruiter Tomorrow?
So I just got an email about this an hour ago, it's for an analyst/associate internal wholesaling role. She mentioned it would just be a short call, any idea what sort of questions I should expect? I've been swallowed up with math/stats/options stuff lately and haven't had to think about this sort of thing in a little bit. Any insight appreciated. Thanks.
Could you be more specific about the role? What team and group within GSAM? You can PM me if you don't want to share publicly.
Sure, its with the advisor sales group, third party distribution. Would love to have your thoughts.
If it's with the HR recruiter and not the recruiter on the working team, the s/he is probably going to ask general questions about why you are interested in this role, why that region (if it is Non NYC), and whether you'd be open to be considered for other roles.
Can saying yes to this reduce the seriousness of your candidacy for a particular position at a BB? I ask because I feel networking at BBs is more effective if you know exactly what you want to get into.
Thanks a lot. The recruiter is listed as being the specific recruiter for this division, but it turns out I'll be speaking with her direct assistant. I'll be speaking with her in about 30 minutes or so. So, standard fit stuff. Sounds about right. Appreciate your input.
Just say it in the right way. 'I'm open to other roles, but I believe I'd prefer (this role).'
It would break your chances if you say this to someone who works on the team you're interviewing with, but would help you if you're talking to a senior HR recruiter (only if s/he asks).
Chicago right? I've got a friend who's an associate in the advisor sales group and loves the job. This is will be basically all fit and an overview of the background. They will want to see if you have any experience in sales or working with FA's. They look for people who are outgoing and have the ability to build relationships. Strong phone skills along with basic product knowledge
Yeah it's in the Chicago office. Thanks so much for the input, sounds about right. I've got previous experience in phone sales and relationship-type positions, so I'm hoping that helps. I'm fairly good on the phone so hopefully that's not an issue either. I'm guessing that it's not quite as prestige-driven as a fit interview for IBD? That's probably the one thing I'm thinking about the most, not having gone to a target school.
Just had the phone call, wasn't sure if she was perhaps having an off-day but it felt rather hostile, she seemed as if she was more interested in critiquing my job application history than anything else, not much focus on prior positions relevant to this one or any skills/talents I might have relevant to the job. So, I don't know.
Thanks for the input guys, greatly appreciated.
did you get the job?
