IB. It makes you stand out from other freshman, gives you a network to use if necessary and shows your interests in banking without coming across as uneducated when networking.

Thanks for answering. I assumed that a BB, although PWM, would give me networking opps. Guess experience in banking is better.

There is no interaction between the people in PWM and those in IB. A lot of people think that they can get a job in PWM and transfer into IB but that is not how it works. Definitely choose the IB offer

You'd get networking opportunities through firm wide events assuming you're at one of the main offices that has both divisions working there, however you will most likely not be interacting with them at all unless you have someone introduce you to them to network or do so yourself.

PWM at a BB looks good on a resume, but definitely take the IB position if you want to do IB.

I did a no name IB internship, meet great people who made me an efficient machine and installed a relentless mentality and work ethic because they knew what my interests were, appreciated that I was working long hours without ever complaining while producing good work and liked that I had the desire to network with them and be genuinely interested in their firm. Those same "no name" guys went to bat for me and would always lend me a hand when they could, truly grateful for that.

IB and the finance industry in general is about being dialled in and having the confidence to do activities that make you stand out in a good way. If you want to be a banker do the IB internship, develop technical and non technical skills and cultivate relationships that will elevate your stock and make you a more competitive applicant in the future.
