case interview resources
I’m relatively new to case interviews and looking for preparation resources. I ordered Case in Point. Can anyone suggest any more resources? And is this a good place to find case partners? I’ll probably want to do my first live cases next month. So contact me, if you’re interested in practicing.
CIP gets mixed reviews, I personally didn't like how structured it was. I did use the case starts in there to practice setting up cases though.
I liked Victor Cheng's videos, it was a good intro to how case interviews work. He is also a little to structured for me though.
I also googled like consulting math drills, and market sizing questions, and practiced those.
You can also google bschool case books (hbs, wharton, etc.) and use those.
I also used headlines from businessweek/wsj. For example, I remember seeing a headline "Apple to begin selling in Iran", I'd think about the solution I'd present if that were the case. You don't get to practice the quant side as much though.
I also just like thought about things in life and how I'd consult for them. For example, I noticed Chipotle is a lot more expensive in NY than in my home state. I might try and answer the question of why, and address cost, customer base, elasticity, etc, while eating my burrito.
In summary, use anything and everything, and do what works for you. Try not to get tied down on a framework or structure. Be flexible and focus on developing sound business acumen, not necessarily just answering the case. This worked for me, good luck!
