CBRE Capital Advisors info (UK)
hello everyone
I appreciate there are some forums on this but a lot of them miss the point or are focussed on the CBRE cap advisors group in the states.
I have a super day at CBRE capital advisors in london this coming week and was wondering:
1) if anyone had experience (or knows someone who has) of the day, their HR is very vague on the structure (generally quite unorganised) and was looking for some help on what might come up and what to prepare for
2) can people provide more info on what they actually do. From their website it appears like they actually offer all the standard investment bank services (M&A, IPOs, debt/equity placement etc.) rather than just 'glorified brokerage' or sales. My question is how similar the role is to some of the real estate activities that occur in your wall street firms like JP, MS, GS etc. I'm specifically talking about London. They also offer Asset Management services as well, are these listed funds? etc. Are they as dominant in this area of are the services more geared towards HNW discretionary services etc.
3) pay - I'm not as fussed about this as I know the salary will be decent and this will come later, but out of curiosity I'm wondering whether it's closer to the 45k that IBs offer, closer to 35k that AM firms offer, or 27/8k that the big 4 offer. Would bonuses also be quite significant considering deal flow you might see?
4) Exit ops, this depends on where you end up / excel etc. but what are the ops like for say REITs? or switching to IB? how about to AM on credit side (is the modelling experience etc. transferable?)
5) culture - I'm specifically talking about working hours, is it as brutal as IB, or closer to more manageable AM?
I appreciate a lot of this will vary somewhat amongst the various teams, but I'm looking for either individual experiences, knowledge etc. to get a gauge not a definitive answer. There is a plethora of info for reg IBs, but nor for REIBs i find
thanks in advance for any responses and help
anyone?
I just received an entry level offer from the CRE AM group of a large financial services firm in a low cost area so maybe I can help.
1.)go on glassdoor or look up on this site other people's interview experiences at CBRE. The questions large companies ask are usually from an official question bank so there should be plenty of repeats
2.) CRE Asset Management seems to be just analyzing current holdings in the portfolio (the properties) to see if they're performing well, then ancillary things to that like due diligence, refinancing, property inspections. But my group does other things like CMBS and restructuring corporations into REITs
3.) Starting salary for me will be $60k with up to 25% bonus, I tried negotiationg but that was the max offer
4.) no clue, but don't count your chickens before they hatch.
5.)my firm is big on "no big egos", alma mater not as important as GPA and experience. I've seen people wear shorts and tennis shoes there on a Thursday for my interview but London should be more intensive
