Cerberus go/no go question
Hi,
I am about to start the interview process at Cerberus for a VP job in their ops group. I will have 3 associates reporting to me and was wondering the following:
- Work hours: are the work hours still as stupid as they are at the analyst/associate level?
- Compensation: any idea about the salary + bonus range?
Given that I am currently not working in banking/PE but in corporate finance, that I work 55h a week and make around $300k a year with job security, I am wondering whether it is worth for me to make the jump.
The job is very interesting though.. usually the grooming stage necessary to take a CFO role in their group next
Thanks for your thoughts
Why not get the job first and then ask for input?
this could be way off base, but i am under the impression that VPs in Ops at BBs make under 200k
He's not talking about fucking BB ops. The word "operations" can mean a lot of things - like running the portfolio companies of PE firm, for instance.
OP: Ignore this forum. 90% of people here are 19 years old. The most senior people are associates
Correct - VP Ops would run the portfolio ie. drive due diligence for new deals, manage D2D management review with portfolio companies and board and I assume do some FP&A as well
where do you work 55h a week and pull 300k? also, how long have you been working there?
doesn't sound like a bad job
I am a CFO of a medium size subsidiary within a F100.... most CFO jobs will pay you that much. I am actually considered minimum wager :-) The price that comes with that is that you rarely work in fancy location - after a while it gets old
This doesn't really answer your question, but Cerberus is known for having a fantastic in-house ops teams. All the big megafunds have similar groups, but their ops teams are a lot smaller. Cerberus' group is almost as big as their investment team and were super active during the downturn.
