CFA® Level 1 December registration timing

Hey guys,

I have a question about the earliest time one can register for the CFA® level 1. According to the CFA® Institute, I need to be in the "final year of my bachelor degree" at the time of registration, which is kinda obscure. I am currently a senior graduating in May 2017. I want to take the CFA® this December 2016.

Now my question is:

Can I register for the CFA® Level 1 December exam now or do I have to wait until my classes start in the Fall (I am on a semester system)? In other words, am I considered a final year student right after my junior year this summer or when I start my senior year classes in the fall?

I also asked the CFA® Institue and they don't know. They told me to ask my college if I am a final year student. I don't want to wait till my classes start because I have to pay the late registration fee.
