Chances at FT Consulting Interviews?

So I was wondering if you guys could give me an honest assessment as to my chances of landing some consulting interviews next recruiting season. They don't necessarily need to be MBB, as I would be very happy to work for Deloitte S&O or any other second tier firms. I attend a large semi-target public school with a very strong accounting program where I am in the 5-year integrated master's in accounting program. Most of the consulting firms actively recruit on campus and I know quite a few people who have gone to work for MBB and other second tier firms.

Other pertinent info:

3.8 GPA which is in the top 10% of my class

Business Honors Program at university

1 internship with Big 4 in audit and 1 internship with small firm in audit

1 minor internship with a law firm

31 on the ACT (not so good SAT score)

Study abroad program in China

Very highly ranked in my instrument (violin)

Minor leadership position related to university orchestra

I am already starting to get ready for next year's recruiting season my networking, reading cases, etc. My principal concern is that I have too much accounting experience and not enough prestigious internships or awards. What are your thoughts on my chances? What is the best use of my time before resume drops to boost my chances?

Go absolutely bananas on networking my fellow monkey. The more people you meet from the firms you are interested in, the more chances you have that someone will recommend your resume to HR after you tell them that you are interested in working for the company. If that does happen, then you are pretty much guaranteed a spot for an interview and then your CV won't matter that much. Your performance on the interview will decide if you can progress or not.

You mentioned you know a couple of guys who went on to work in consulting. Reach out to them first.

As for an honest assessment. Your achievements so far are decent, but not extraordinary. You can land a good job, but you need to be great on the interviews and to get there you should network for the above reason.

Good luck with applications!
