Recruiters for Chicago Area?
Does anyone know any recruiters (PE, HF, Asset Management, IB, or Corp Development) that have clients in the Chicago area, or have a focus on Chicago recruiting?
Casting a wide net out there in terms of job opportunities as location is the focus here. Have talked to Venautics and Dynamics, but was wondering if anyone know any of the other HHs.
Thanks for your help!
Bump, please. This would be really helpful for me.
Are you an experienced professional?
Yes, 2.5 years in strategy consulting.
If you're looking to break into PE, from my experience, Chicago is pretty well self-networked (ie the PEAC - Private Equity Associates of Chicago), each year they put together a resume book for the formal recruiting process. This year the book's resume deadline was February 25th and was organized by a guy a CIVC and Flexpoint Ford. You might want to reach out there and see what you can come up with.
Thanks - I reached out and hopefully it's not too late (though I'm assuming it is).
You are too late to submit your resume for the PEAC Resume Book. That being said, they are hosting their recruiting forum in the next few weeks (April 1st I believe). You should reach out to them to get more details, but if you bring your resume I assume there will be plenty of firms there who you can talk to.
Chicago Headhunters - Names of any? (Originally Posted: 04/14/2012)
So I did a search and it seems like this topic does not get any responses.
I'm looking to lateral (or start as a first year again) because I am not getting the best experience, especially in M&A at my current "MM" bank in NYC. I'm fine going to a boutique or a MM, in fact it's almost preferred as the deal teams tend to be lean and I want the added responsibility.
So as the post says, I really want to lateral to Chicago and am looking for names of any headhunters. So far I have only been able to come up with Harris McCall and am even looking into dropping my resume into the PEAC resume book hoping that maybe I'll get picked up by a lower tier PE shop and work my way up to something better.
if anyone here could be helpful in getting a fellow chicagoan back home I'd really appreciate it... in fact it's the midwestern thing to do so come on! Let's see those names.
Silver Bananas to the 3 people who are most helpful! (since I only have 3)
How do you know that you're not getting the best experience? The fact is that most first jobs aren't fun. The second job gets a bit more interesting.
After 12-18 months at your first job, talk to Robert Khoury at WWFIRS.com. I met him when he was working at GETCO; he's a pretty smart guy and he's aware of a lot of finance-related opportunities in Chicago, although I think his specialty is more on the trading than IBD side.
I would say I'm not getting the best experience because there's barely any deal flow at my firm. It's just pitch after pitch and then there's no modeling experience. I feel like i don't get credit when working on anything. I'd really like to get some M&A exposure but that just is not possible. I've been to a few lateral interviews and always get the feeling that my experience is worse than any other candidate there.
I will definitely look into that, especially since I really would like to make the transition to trading too. Thanks for your help

Anyone know a good Chicago headhunter? For the Associate level with experience.
But I'm not sharing my headhunters with you until I get a job first! Sorry.
Thanks
How about for analysts?
Headhunters are not in the business of placing de novo candidates such as analysts.

Full time Recruiting Chicago (Originally Posted: 09/29/2014)
Hey Everybody, I have 2 questions and would appreciate any feedback:
I got a summer analyst gig at a middle market boutique this past summer. I did not receive a direct full time offer but I was invited directly to their super day. What advice/opinions can you guys give me on this situation?
I am a student in Chicago from a non target. I am interested in the Chicago banking scene but besides from my one interview, I have not heard anything from anyone else. Does anyone know when the firms will be selecting candidates for interviews or if they already have?
Many of them have already filled their needs (particularly the BBs). If I were you, I would target the boutiques - there are a lot of smaller IBs that will give you a great experience.
