Collateral Analyst=FO?
So I got this job description for a collateral analyst position at BB from a headhunter and I was told this is a FO job. But after reading the des I feel like this is more like ops. Can anyone familiar with this position provide some insights?
"As a Collateral Analyst you will be a member of a team responsible for receiving, loading and analyzing data necessary to support trading and advisory businesses. This position offers a unique opportunity to be involved in a growing business and gain first hand experience with the purchase, sale and securitization of assets such as residential mortgages, distressed residential mortgages, home equity loans, auto loans, student loans, and commercial real estate loans. As a member of the team you will play a critical role by maintaining essential data and providing the necessary reporting to clients, rating agencies, accountants, internal team members and management. This position requires a candidate who can be responsive under demanding circumstances and is willing to work long hours."
Thanks!
I would advise you to never deal with that retarded headhunter again.
The recruiter is swindling you into taking a shitty dead-end BO job.
haha, thanks guys! I'm not that desperate yet, lol
As those above have said its definitely BO. When we do MM/mezz debt and There's a pro-rata or ABL revolver tranchewith the borrowing base, we and the rest of the lending group will get emails from collateral analysts who are basically doing aging on receivables, inventory turn analysis, etc.
Excuse my typos as I'm on a mobile device and fairly buzzed.
Buzzed at 12:04pm? I like it! SB.
Tell the headhunter to send me the job,i'll take anything closely related to finance at this point.
Interesting pic.
thanks, ha.
Recruiters will tell you anything and everything, regardless if it's bullshit or not lol. BO position for sure and sounds like you would be on the retail side of the bank..
it's good and definitely fo
correct me if im right
wouldn't this role be considered FO/MO in the AM arm of the BB?
I say this bc structured products aren't traded often (aside from agency and non-agency MBS). And, these collateral analyst positions are usually on the buyside because AMs want to know what they're going to hold (since they usually buy and hold these products).
also, the description says the analysis will help with the trading and advisory of these products - I take this to mean there will be a close relationship with the FO. The MO aspect of this role, IMO, is the reporting function to everyone else.

Hello everyone,
I have a direct final round coming up for an MBS position at Citi. The problem is, the description sounds pretty vague to me so I really have no idea what this job entails. I know it is in a group in GSM. Has anyone worked here or know anything about it? And is it FO or MO? Also, what are some possible exit opps? Any intel would be appreciated.
>reporting for whole loan bids >will interact directly with structuring, banking and external clients
Sounds like middle-office.
So do you think it'll provide decent exit opps into FO?
