Citi Public Sector Group

Can anybody cogently tell me what exactly this is? Just got an interview for it and I stupidly assumed it was an ibanking group... Now that I look into it, it seems like it's essentially one step up from retail banking. Can anyone shed any light on what exactly they do, and what a first year analyst's responsibilities would look like?

Public Sector Groups, to my limited knowledge, provide credit and lending facilities and underwrite capital market issuances to public sector entities -- municipals, sovereigns -- and often non-profits. You won't be doing M&A, naturally. Can't confirm this, but the only opportunities for robust modeling might be on PPP (public private partnership) transactions or project finance transactions (though most project finance work would fall under their respective industry coverage groups, i.e. energy, power, telecom).
