Cold Emailing - Would it be better to say

I've been cold emailing boutique investment banks by putting my cover letter in the body of the email, attaching my resume and finishing by leaving my contact info.

Would it be better to say something along the lines of
Dear XXX

Which do you guys think is a better strategy. I have no connection to any of the banks.

Tough to say - No network connections at all? Some kind of introduction is definitely warranted, but I do see your point of wanting to just get right to the point. I am still in favor of the introducing yourself, just need to hope you catch them on a good day with some extra time on their hands.

Maybe try to brainstorm something more creative to get their attention though. Hire a barbershop quartet to sing your resume throughout the financial district?

I always send a cold email with the resume and the cover letter attached with my scanned signature, their address, firm details, etc.

It takes a fuck ton of time to tailor these email when you're sending them to 50+ people, but it's worth it IMO. Good response rate, because it shows that you care. If you have extreme attention to detail, you can get by with using templates, but I don't think most people can handle not fucking it up.

That's pretty close to the template I have for my cold emails. However if you're cold emailing with the intention of getting an internship this late into recruiting season then I get more aggressive and include a line like: "I was hoping we might be able to setup a time to speak about your experiences in the industry, as well as any internship opportunities your firm may offer to undergraduates".
