commodity traders ex energy?
Hey guys,
So monty already put up a list of all the energy trading firms but what I'm curious for is, aside from Cargill, Louis Dreyfus, Bunge, Glencore, and the other big name shops and banks, who are the other players in non-oil/gas/energy commodities?
I've searched and most of the info here is on the said firms.
mining-
Alcoa Anglo American BHP Billiton Freeport-McMoRan Glencore Rio Tinto United Company Rusal Vale Xstrate
regionals-
US Gold (mining) Coeur d'Alene Mines (mining) Williams (nat gas) Chesapeake Energy (nat gas) Exelon (electricity)
oil traders w/ other specialties-
Gunvor (electricity) Mercuria (emissions) Vitol (ethanol/methanol, emissions)
huge bastard nobody talks about-
e.on
miscellaneous player for which your ass better bathe me in silver bananas...Koch (largest private company in U.S...dig up some dirt on them, fascinating company, fingers in many a pie)
I am going to reply just because I want to come back to this post later.
Thanks man! Ran out on sb's though, gave most of them to you before anyway.
Agree with you on Koch, I've read a little on them because of the Koch brothers and it's a really interesting company.
Thanks bro, I appreciate it. Here's a little more on Koch:
revenues ~ $110 Billion
employees~80,000
active markets: cattle, paper, lumber, fertilizers, iron ores, coal, petroleum, natural gas, pipelines, plastics, pollution control equipment
in other words...they may not be one of the ABCDs you mentioned, they just might be the whole fucking alphabet!
I love Charles Koch response to the question "Will Koch ever go public"
"Literally over my dead body"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koch_Industries
lol so true, no wonder they could afford to throw hundreds of millions around; few more business and they'd be running the whole fucking show.
top of your head, who else are the players on the agri commods side?
Tyson Foods and ConAgra are the ones that jump out of my mouth...Albertson's Inc...Campbell Soup...Chiquita Brands...Hormel Foods...Land O'Lakes....
starting to get the hint where you should look;)
essentially, if they mass produce food, they will likely be involved, but due to negative media implications most of them are on the extreme down-low so you will have to dig
koch is like cargill, they trade everything under the sign anywhere anyway they can make $$$.
Unlike banks I think the cargill's/koch's of the world do go out and buy physical business or assets and setup a 2-5 year strategy to dominate a market.
Are most of Koch's traders based out of Wichita or Houston?
they have a nice size office
in Houston.
my bad in houston
on a side note... we were talking today about what song we put on when having a girl over.... you know to set the mood.... i am married now but guy i was talking to said... dru hill dropped the draws.... pretty funny since he was late 30s and white ....even the white people anthony hates have SOUL
I'm sure he likes dem bitches with the apple bottom jeans but they probably don't wear the boots with the fur in Houston
Play Crazy Bitch the next time you have a lady over...if it doesn't scare her off, she could be of porn star quality
LOL women love that and cushy, slow, house music as well... There was this one time I was so drunk that I played nine inch nails' i wanna fuck you like an animal for shits and gigs, night became quite interesting :D
that is still one of the best openings to a movie in my eyes.. seven...classic
and at the highway massacre scene at The Hitcher. Seven's a real classic, it had so much grit for its time. Got to get a dvd of it this weekend.
Thanks, Midas
same with wheat unions, and other farmers unions.
Thanks again Midas, figured some of those guys would show up.
EDIT: This is by far the weirdest trader list ever on WSO. Haha.
