Hey all, I've used the search function extensively but couldn't really find any great answers regarding what comp looks like for first year associate type roles (2 yrs experience at BB) at small PE firms -- say, $500 mm AUM and relatively new.
Any idea about the all-in pay range?

Divide AUM by 25,000 then multiply by the inches of your dick.

You're so hardcore man, I mean who the fuck would care about comp. we all do it for the love of finance.
A banking analyst exiting to a middle market PE firm should expect to make somewhere in the realm of $200-250K all-in, with around half of that in salary.
Fund age and size (within a range, since the mega funds do pay more) should not really dictate market comp. A good startup fund with confident, competent, and well-capitalized partners should generally be willing to pay the market price for a pre-MBA associate.

Very difficult to pinpoint, but I would say that all in comp should be 175-250. Obviously a wide range, but it depends on size of team, what sort of talent they are looking for (ie if they want Bain/McK/GS/MS/JPM or something like Houlihan Lokey), and culture. If they are a spinoff of a larger and successful firm, they will probably try to comp towards that level.
i know a quite a few sub 1 bn PE guys comping all in 150k. You can really estimate it but the firm should give you a rough estimate

I've seen firms with funds around $100 - $250 million pay as low as $140k for someone coming straight out of banking (this particular fund was more entrepreneurial and was more of a 9-5 job than a traditional pre-MBA PE gig). Market appears to be more along the lines of $175 - $200k in the lower middle market and $200 - $250k in the middle market. It really comes down to the senior folks and where they think an "acceptable" range is. Also, if they have multiple funds, they are more likely to be generating more income, so definitely take that into consideration.
does the $200-$250k range include the upper middle markets (Kelso, Golden Gate, Berkshire), or are those higher (say $250 to $300k)
