Concerned About Transcript Sent to PE FirmCO
Interested in feedback from more senior people:
I applied for an associate job at a relatively large growth equity firm. My resume included lots of nonexperience (~4 years) and my education (relatively hard dual degree from non-target). However it did not include my relatively light (>3.0, but <<3.5) given my extensive WE.
Phone screen, day of interviews including fit and case work all went great and without any mention of GPA or even the notion of doing well in college (above and beyond asking about my double major).
They called me and told me they were either "very interested in me working there" or "wanted me to work there" (I forget which), but next steps include references, background check and transcripts. Everyone I talk to says that this is just a punch list before they extend an offer.
I am quite concerned that they are going to see the transcript and get jolted, potentially extending an offer to someone else.
What are my odds of hearing back from them, and them saying there is an issue with my transcript (light grades)?
What should I do to mitigate any risk?
a. My uncle's advice: "Don't say anything, and if it comes up, just say 'My WE speaks for itself."
b. Proactive stance: Send an email or make call to my contact explaining that "the content of my academic record never came up, and to avoid any surprises, I wanted to let you know my GPA is X because of Y good reason"
c. Indirect approach: Try and find a peer or closer contact to learn if everyone gets transcripts requested, etc.
