Considering a finance internship, HELP
Hey guys, so I'm currently a sophomore thinking about internships for the summer of 2013. I'm a polisci major planning on going to law school, but I'm also considering finance or a JD/MBA. Because of this I'm considering a finance internship, and I have two main questions.
One, will I need to know a great deal about finance/have technical skills to be an intern. If essentially everything is taught on the job then I should be fine, but if significant financial knowledge is required than I won't even bother to apply.
Secondly, how hard would it be for me to get a well paying internship in finance? I go to umich and have a 4.0, so that's what I have going for me, but obviously I have no experience in finance yet.
Investment banking will probably require some technical knowledge about DCFs, LBO, M&As, accounting, and the markets in general. Sales & Trading also technical, so know your stocks, fixed income, and derivatives. PWM not so technical.
