Consultant's Networking Bible

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had purchased this The Consultant's Networking Bible by Management Consulted. I would love to know what your thought's were on the book and if you would recommend purchasing it (or sharing it?)

Looking forward to your feedback.

Obviously like anyone else selling interview/job search prep materials, it's primarily made for the profit. I borrowed a copy from a friend to skim before my final rounds... It wasn't that useful from my standpoint, but it was also because I had done the entire networking/cold-calling game before. If you're just starting your search (read: rising junior or prior) then it should be useful. If you've done the whole spiel before, don't bother. Just read this forum, read MC, and read/practice with Case in Point. Voila, you're set,

Currently: future neurologist, current psychotherapist Previously: investor relations (top consulting firm), M&A consulting (Big 4), M&A banking (MM)

Sharing is caring, pm me your email

Baby you're the perfect shape, baby you're the perfect weight. Treat me like my birthday, I want it this way and I want it that way. It makes a man feel good baby.

Would you say that the cold-calling/emailing section of it is helpful though? Was looking into this as well but have been hearing mixed reviews
There are tons of cold-calling/emailing guides here on WSO, and many of the users a willing to give you pointers. There's nothing in the consulting bible that's really shockingly new or unheard of.

Thank you all for the excellent help. My interest in this book is based on the fact that the only way I will be getting interviews is through lots of networking. I'm a recent master's graduate in biochemistry and consulting is what I want to do. Although it may be an odd transition, if I'm able to get an interview I'll ba satisfied as the rest of the process would put me on even footing with all other applicants.

I completely agree that there is some great information on networking throughout the website, I've learned lots already :)

The error of confirmation: we confirm our knowledge and scorn our ignorance.

Not to deviate too much from the original subject but it's not as big of a transition as you'd think. MBB hires a lot of people with bio sciences backgrounds including physicians. Healthcare/Life Sciences is big. All you'll need is an explanation for why you want to do consulting.

hi. does anyone have this book and are willing to share it? I am new to the networking field, especially for consulting industry. I previewed the book and it seemed to provide many useful tools and advice for doing networking. Contact me conanli12 at gmail dot com. Thanks a lot!

How has everyone been approaching their consulting networking strategy? Have you been able to make useful contacts from cold email / LinkedIn messages that have led to interviews?

I am planning on applying to the major firms as an APD postdoc from a non-target institution and am trying to figure out the best way to network that will improve chances of getting interviews. Sending emails / LinkedIn messages to randoms seems like a fairly low percentage way to do this.
