Consulting Salaries vs. Investment Banking Salaries

I'm going off to college as an undergraduate on the west coast and was wondering what kind of salaries and hours I can expect if I want to work as an ibanker, consultant, or venture capitalist in the Silicon Valley. I'm interested in the specifics - can I go home by 7 or 8 pm if I do consulting? Do I have to travel a ton if I do consulting? Can I make a TON of money with an MBA at a consulting firm, or do I really have to do ibanking in New York if I really want the big bucks? Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks.

they all vary from shop to shop, but speaking for banks, you'll get around 80 hours on a good week, and around 100-120 hours on a bad week. but again, they may vary location, firm etc.

and i dont' think you should worry too much about making "a TON" of money, do something that you enjoy, cause in the end, its not the money that motivates you.

consutling out of college about 60000 + a 6000 - 10000 bonus... traveling depends on firm and the team you work for... after MBA 120000 - 150000

Ibanking 60000 + 10000 analyst (fresh out of college) + year end bonus anywhere from 30000 - 80000 .... after MBA 100000 - 150000 bonus from 80% or salary to 250% of salary depends on performance.

you have to factor in the fact that consulting pays for your MBA albeit you're anchored down to the firm for at least two years post-mba
