Current Boss Making a Recommendation to Interviewer
Hi,
I am currently working as an intern at a boutique IB. I completed my undergrad earlier this year.
I recently had some interviews, one of which was a final round with an MD. My boss, who is experienced and pretty well known in the industry, has asked if I wanted him to reach out to put in a good word. He has no prior relationship with the MD.
What are your thoughts on having a current boss make a recommendation to a new potential MD?
I'm not sure how receptive the MD would be to this .. it may seem like I'm trying too hard/aggressive/desperate.
Cheers.
I don't think it could hurt, especially if the guy is pretty well known.
Anyone else have something to add? I'm looking to have him send an email tomorrow if I do decide to go through with it.

I'd like it if my interns did this and I'd like it if my grad applicants did this.
It gives me an excuse to contact/network with someone else in the industry, under the cover of speaking for/asking about the intern/grad.
It also benefits the intern/grad.
Win/win.
